Chapter & Worse

Classics · Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontë, 1847

Does Jane Eyre end up with Mr. Rochester?

Yes. Jane goes back and marries Mr. Rochester after his wife's death. It's the line the final chapter opens with.

She returns to find Thornfield burned down and Rochester blind and maimed from the fire, living at Ferndean. By the end he has some of his sight back, in time to see his first son.

“Reader, I married him.”
